The National Coastal Agency has announced the opening of applications for the exercise of activity as a beach station for the summer season 2026. The areas where applications are allowed are in Fier, Divjakë, Pogradec-Zvërnez, Vlorë (Old Beach), Spille, Vilë Bashtovë, Rrogozhinë, Shetaj, Hamallaj, Katund i Ri, Proto Romano, Currila, Borsh, Llaman, Lukovë 2, Marac as well as in Rrjoll.
But who can apply? Licensed entities must have accommodation structures categorized by the institution responsible for tourism.
The beach area must be in front of the accommodation structure or in its vicinity. The entity must be registered as a natural or legal person for the exercise of activity. Applications are due by March 15.
But how many beach resorts are there in Albania?
According to statistical data from the National Coastal Agency, 2024 was the year with the highest number of beach stations along the entire coastline of Albania and beyond, reaching 951 beach stations in total.
Meanwhile, counting from 2021, as a pandemic year, it was also the year with the lowest number of beach stations, with 368 in total.
While the year 2022 reached 442 beach stations and to be followed by the year 2023 with 721 beach stations, where an almost doubled increase from the year 2021 is noted.
However, the figures show that in 2025 there was a decrease in the number of beach stations, compared to the previous year, reaching 638 beach stations in total. This is also as a result of the release of public spaces for those constructions or entities that were without permits.
