The increase in fatal accidents at work in the construction sector has put the responsible institutions on alert. The National Inspectorate for Territorial Protection has launched a wide-ranging verification process for all active construction sites, with a focus on technical safety during the implementation of works.
Afrim Qëndro Chief Inspector of IKMT: "The National Construction Inspectorate has started a verification process for all permits that are under construction in the city of Tirana with the aim of verifying technical safety in the development of work, in Tirana construction sites. There are a total of 150 permits for the last two years and permits that are from previous years that are being developed in Tirana and IKMT together with the Municipality Inspectorate, and AZHT, in cooperation with the Municipal Police in Tirana, have made a work plan with the verification of all construction sites within the framework of technical safety. All will be checked based on the law, will be verified and will be given tasks for a week to 10 days depending on the size of the construction site, to complete all the defects they have and in the second control that will be carried out, those who have not completed all the requirements for technical safety, will be strictly punished, according to all obligations "which is determined by law."
Subjects that will result in deficiencies will be given a period of one week to 10 days to correct the problems, depending on the size of the construction site. After the re-inspection, those who will not fulfill the legal obligations will face punitive measures.
"The national inspectorate will have a controlling, collaborative approach and in full cooperation with the designer whose duties have been increased, with the new law, and with all construction supervision teams, of all types. We have two types of construction. We have social housing construction by private businesses, but we have all social and cultural facilities that are budgeted from the state budget."
According to the head of IKMT, a work plan has been made with all the facilities with which work will continue until the conclusion of this process.
