"We are experiencing an unprecedented renaissance" - Trump addresses

"The country is back. In one year, we have achieved a transformation unlike any we have ever seen. A historic renaissance, and now we will not go back." Donald Trump, in his State of the Union Address, highlighted the success of his "America First" policies, starting with the economy, and declared that he would continue on his path, ignoring public and electoral polls that are against him.

"The country is bigger, better and stronger than ever. America is respected again, perhaps more than ever. We are winning again, and so much so that we don't know what to do with all these victories," Trump stressed during a two-hour speech.

Trump, from start to finish, interspersed promises with claims of achievement, from immigration to tariffs on allies and rivals to rearmament. All of which, he said, meant that “the state of the union is strong.” The speech, filled with patriotism, was dedicated to a “strong, prosperous and respected” country in its 250th anniversary year.

Regarding tariffs, Trump once again denounced that many countries "have been robbing us for years" on trade. He stated that even these countries are now satisfied with the new agreements reached and called the rejection of reciprocal tariffs by the Supreme Court "unfortunate and disappointing". The president added that companies and everyone really want to preserve the agreements reached in the meantime and that the more stable tariffs will remain, without the need for Congressional approval. He said, contrary to evidence, that they are paid by foreign countries and that one day "they will replace income taxes". Trillions of dollars "will continue to flow" into the US.

Speaking about the economy in general, he said that Wall Street is breaking records and that he has "secured $18 trillion" in investment from around the world. Because "we are the hottest country in the world." He criticized the Democratic opposition for its affordability slogan. He also claimed that under him, inflation has actually eased, with prices for eggs, poultry and beef falling, and "mortgage costs are coming down." He celebrated the tax cuts in the Big Beautiful bill, the major economic and budget law passed last year, condemning the opposition for voting against it and "wanting to hurt Americans," and claiming that it will have a long-term positive impact on incomes.
