How much money did mobile companies earn in 2024? - AKEP: About 10% more revenue than in 2023. 28 billion lek were secured from packages
Over the past year, mobile companies' revenues from activated packages for citizens have multiplied.
According to the annual report of the Electronic and Postal Communications Authority, the revenues of mobile companies in 2024 were 39.3 billion lek, a value 4% higher than in 2023. From services provided through mobile networks, i.e. packages, mobile companies earned 28 billion lek, while the profit from services through fixed networks was 11 billion lek.
Profits from mobile packages continue to account for the largest share with 71% of total revenues, while profits from services provided through fixed networks account for 29% of total revenues of mobile companies.
The amount of money earned by companies from mobile services/networks increased by about 10% compared to 2023, while revenues from fixed services/networks decreased by about 4%.
In 2024, mobile network service providers earned 2.5 billion lek more than in the previous year, reaching a level of about 28 billion lek.
Enterprise revenues from fixed services/networks in 2024 were approximately 11.4 billion lekë, decreasing by about 4% from the previous period. Revenue generated by large and medium-sized enterprises constitutes about 78% of the total revenue generated for 2024.
Regarding investments made by companies in their networks, data from the Electronic and Postal Communications Authority shows that fixed network entrepreneurs have made around 2.86 billion lek investments in their networks, marking a slight increase compared to 2023 where this figure was around 2.7 billion lek.
Even this year, investments have been channeled mainly towards improving access to broadband services, around 87% of the total, where among the main investments is the focus on shifting transmission networks from DSL technology to fiber technology.
