87 reports of electoral violations - General Prosecutor's Office continues

As of May 12, a total of 87 criminal reports for criminal offenses in the field of elections have been registered with the Courts of First Instance with general jurisdiction. Of these reports, 34 criminal proceedings have been opened and 7 people have been arrested in flagrante delicto.

The reports were filed in several major cities of the country, including Tirana with 21 cases, Dibra with 15 cases, Fier with 8 cases, Elbasan with 11 cases, and others distributed in Kukës, Vlorë, Shkodër, Korçë, Saranda and Berat. According to official sources, the reports of these criminal offenses were mainly reported by the Judicial Police, SPAK, political entities and citizens.

The Tirana Prosecution Office leads the list with the most arrests, specifically 4 people detained in flagrante delicto for violating the electoral law. Other arrests have been registered in Elbasan, Lezhë and Fier. Also, a detention order has been issued in Elbasan for 4 other people.

Meanwhile, 6 criminal reports have been sent for jurisdiction to SPAK, which include cases from the Prosecutor's Offices of Durrës, Lezha, Dibra, Fier and Shkodra.

Of all the reports filed, 12 have been decided not to initiate investigations. These include 5 cases in Tirana, 2 in Kukës, 2 in Dibër, and other cases in Saranda, Fier, and Elbasan.

Currently, the investigations into the remaining reports are still in the verification phase, while some of them have been sent for trial. The prosecutors have emphasized that work is continuing to verify each case, with the aim of ensuring a fair and transparent electoral process.

Detailed reporting on the progress of criminal proceedings is expected to be reflected in the future, while the justice bodies have underlined their maximum commitment to guarantee the implementation of the law in every identified case.
