How much does the pedestrian project in the former Block cost? - Pashako:

The project that is expected to transform the former Blloku into a pedestrian zone will cost around 3 million euros. Tv Scan sheds light on the project, which details the changes to the area.

Tirana Deputy Mayor Frida Pashako told Scan TV that the three streets parallel to Lana, Ismail Qemali, Pjetër Bogdani and Brigada VIII, will be converted into a pedestrian zone, but with limited traffic.

"The lanes will continue in one direction as they are. With limited traffic. We will not have a difference between the sidewalk and the roadway. We will be at one level, it is at the same level. Parking is eliminated, that is what is done."

Minimizing car traffic seems to be the continuation of projects in Tirana. What are the predictions for future projects?

"We have a continuation from Skanderbeg Square, towards Avni Rustemi Square, where we will have the requalification of the facades of both sides of the street. The requalification of both sides of the sidewalks and we will reach Avni Rustemi Square, which will also have an underground parking lot, because it is another important element. We have thought that the center of "Mother Teresa" Square will hold this type of installation, which will be made of wooden modules, which will offer green spaces for families, to play or to read. It will automatically bring a modification of circulation. We will always have cars but at a lower speed. We will always limit the space, the presence of cars will not be eliminated, but it will be limited and the policy is to give priority to pedestrians."

But the elimination of parking areas remains a concern for residents, what has the Municipality thought of as a solution to this problem?

"New parking lots are being built in the city, underground. Like Avni Rustemi Square. The entire space of the square will be underground with two floors and will hold a large number of cars. Also being designed at this moment as we speak and will soon be ready for procurement, is the underground parking lot at the entrance to the guardhouse, where today we have a two-story parking lot. In that case, we will also offer parking for tourist buses."
