Road for natural tourism - 2 million euro contract signed for axes around the Shkodër-Velipoja area
Improving the tourist offer in the Shkodër – Velipojë area through investments in road infrastructure is the focus of a contract recently signed by the Albanian Development Fund. According to the announcement made in the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development system, the contract has a value of around 2 million euros, while the works will be implemented by the joint venture of the companies "KNPSH. PAPENBURG & ADRIANI COMPANY and ALBTIEFBAU.
The tender was opened in July last year, while the accompanying documents indicated that the project is a continuation of the project for the new bridge over the Buna River in the Albania-Montenegro border area. It will connect the bridge over the Buna River with the Shkodër-Velipoja national road, the border crossing point and the supporting infrastructure.
"The entire area represents a great tourist potential, with well-known destinations such as Shëngjin and Velipoja on the Albanian side, with unexplored but wonderful beaches such as Rana e Hedhun, Rrjoll, with lagoons, islands, hills, natural parks, rivers, etc. and Ulcinj in Montenegro with wonderful, salty beaches and cultural wealth", - it was stated, among other things, in the procedure opened at that time.
"The existing road on which the new road route lies is a rural road that connects the area around the village of Pulaj with Velipoja, connecting to the Shkodër - Velipoja road," it added, describing the depreciated condition of the current road.
The signed contract is part of the 40 million euro project for Infrastructure and Tourism in Albania, funded by the European Union.
