Berat-Ballaban road, works progressing - Balluku inspects the works: Accessible within this year!
The construction works for the Berat-Ballaban road axis have advanced significantly. The route has been opened along the entire length of the road and work is being carried out in parallel on the construction of the retaining walls and the construction of the layers. Meanwhile, the laying of the binder has also begun in the first kilometers of this work.
Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Infrastructure and Energy, Belinda Balluku, together with the Minister of Tourism and Environment, Mirela Kumbaro, the director of the Albanian Road Authority, Gentian Gjyli, and the mayor of Këlcyrë Municipality, Klement Ndoni, closely followed the progress of the construction works for this axis in the area of the Këlcyrë municipality.
Director Gjyli explained that more than 50% of the physical works have been completed, adding that the goal is for the road to be accessible to vehicles within this year.
The impact of this work on the entire area has begun since the start of the works, where many of the residents have invested in building the first guesthouses, while the completion of the axis is expected to provide development to the entire area. "When the route was not yet opened in the area, the first tourism initiatives began. I do not only see it as an important axis for the residents of the area, undoubtedly for the Ballabani area, but it is very important for the entire Leskovik-Përmet-Këlcyrë-Memaliaj axis that connects it with Berat in terms of tourism," said Kumbaro.
Deputy Prime Minister Balluku emphasized that this project, which affects two regions and several municipalities, will not only shorten travel time and distance, but will have an impact on the entire area with great agricultural and tourist potential.
"The project was launched to increase the quality of life of the residents of the area, to increase the volumes of agricultural exchanges, to facilitate children going to school, exchanges between the villages where the road passes, as this is a road that passes through three important provinces, such as Përmet, Skrapar and Berat. While we were designing, while the procedure was done, the construction site was opened, while we are building the road, many individual initiatives of the residents of the area have progressed to create agrotourism", Balluku underlined.
The Minister of Infrastructure and Energy, referring to the progress of the works, said that it is important that the construction site be completed within October, while starting next year this road will be an important artery for tourism.
"It would be good to close the entire construction site within October, although here it seems that the work is nearing completion in terms of all the primary volumes, which are the excavations, the roadbed or the slopes, so if we deliver it by the end of October, the next summer season will find you with a completely new road," Balluku emphasized.
The Berat-Ballaban road axis starts at the exit of the city of Berat and ends in the village near the Ballaban bridge.
