"Increase in the non-taxable salary limit" - Exporters: Take measures, the euro and the war are sinking the sector

The effects of the exchange rate and the situation in the Middle East have plunged the clothing and footwear sector into a severe crisis, which is leading to significant losses and workforce reductions.
For this reason, the Extraordinary Assembly of the sector has been convened, which aims to come up with unified demands addressed to the government, among which the most urgent are fixing the exchange rate and increasing the level of non-taxable wages.
On the other hand, the measure taken by the government to subsidize the increase in social and health insurance due to the change in the minimum wage is considered insufficient.
"There has been an increase in business costs and the main beneficiary has been the government, while employees have had more payroll taxes. The effect has not been social, but there has been economic pressure on businesses."
On the other hand, exporters say that the increase in fuel prices due to the war in the Middle East brings increased costs for the sector.
The clothing and footwear sector employs over 65,000 people and generates over 1 billion euros in export revenue annually.
