Electricity consumption increases - ERE: Caused by expansion of economic activity by businesses and demand from households

Electricity consumption in the country has increased during 2025, reflecting a moderate expansion in demand, linked to both economic activity and increased household consumption.
According to the annual report of the Energy Regulatory Authority, total electricity consumption reached around 8,345 gWh in 2025, up from 8,171 gWh a year earlier, confirming an increasing trend in energy use in the country.
Households continue to account for the largest share of consumption, which last year consumed around 3,640 gWh of electricity, an increase of around 6.3% compared to 2024. This category also remains dominant in the billing structure, representing over half of the total, around 52% of the billed energy.
At the same time, the consumption of non-household customers has also increased, reaching 1,517 gWh in 2025, from 1,419 gWh a year earlier. This development is mainly related to the expansion of economic activity and the increase in energy demand in the private sector.
The data also show that the total number of customers supplied with electricity has reached over 1.37 million in 2025, with about 85% of them being household customers, confirming the high weight of this category in the consumption structure in the country.
