2025 budget money redistributed - Malaj: More funds for cybersecurity, IT and infrastructure
Redistribution of funds for cybersecurity, information technology, sovereign guarantees in agriculture and infrastructure. These are just some of the changes to the 2025 budget that were discussed in the Parliamentary Committee on Legal Affairs, Public Administration and Human Rights.
During his speech, Minister of Finance Petrit Malaj once again listed the changes to this year's budget, which were approved a week ago with a normative act by the Council of Ministers.
"We have a reflection and an internal redistribution of funds for IT-related projects. From the savings, 3.3 billion lek goes to the National Cyber Security Authority, several billion lek for infrastructure development projects, for a project of the Ministry of Education and Sports, additional funds to the Ministry of Health for the purchase of medical equipment.
Meanwhile, 3 billion lek is for the sovereign guarantee in the agricultural sector. This aims to facilitate access to finance for small and medium-sized enterprises. The Ministry of Agriculture has proposed a scheme to solve the problem of the lack of collateral. The sovereign guarantee will be covered by commercial banks. The reflection of the changes will enable the budget deficit to be maintained unchanged. Through this act, it is intended to reallocate 11.8 billion lek to strengthen state capacities for cybersecurity and information and communication technology.
The Minister of Finance emphasized that this normative act only concerns savings from certain projects, which have been reallocated to other projects.
Asked about a possible increase in State Police salaries, Malaj said that no additional funds have been provided for the needs that Ministries may have had. No salary increase has been foreseen so far.
