Digital register for olives - Lushnja, Fieri, Mallakastra and Vlora with new map

The Fushë-Krujë Agricultural Technology Transfer Center has announced the opening of the tender for a field study for the identification, registration and digitalization of 11,500 new olive units, in the administrative units of Dushk, Karbunarë of the Lushnje municipality; Mbrostar, Libofshë of the Fier municipality; Kutë, Selitë of the Mallakastër municipality; Centar and Orikum of the Vlora municipality.

According to the document published by the Public Procurement Agency, the registration of olive units is planned in 2 lots, with a total fund of 24 million 658 thousand lek.

Regarding the first lot, 6,000 thousand new olive units will be identified, registered and digitized, in the administrative units: Dushk, Karbunarë of the Lushnje municipality, Mbrostar, Libofshë of the Fier municipality, Kutë of the Mallakastër municipality. The planned fund for lot I is 12 million and 865 thousand lekë. While regarding the second lot, 5,500 new olive units will be digitized, in Selitë of the Mallakastër municipality; center of the Vlorë municipality and the Selenicë (Orikum) municipality, with an estimated fund of 11 million and 792 thousand lekë.

The aim of this project is to create a database for olive groves and integrate it into the geographic information system (GIS), according to EU standards, to increase the contribution of this sector to improving the income of agricultural families and the economy as a whole.

According to the document, the identification, registration and digitalization of olive units that begins in an administrative unit must be completed regardless of the planned number, but not more than 2% of the total planned number, excluding cases where the digital border for cadastral areas is missing. The olive registry will serve for the correct orientation of farmers, traders and processors throughout the entire production, trading and value creation chain.

We currently have 54,950 ha of olive trees or over 11 million olive trees, approximately three times more than in 2005. The rapid growth of this sector requires special attention, requiring the establishment of the necessary infrastructure for the management of this sector according to the most advanced models and in accordance with the practices followed in this sector by the European Community.
