Restoration of Borsh Castle/Gonzha: Interventions will begin soon, from the renovation of the mosque to the lighting!
The Minister of Tourism, Culture and Sports, Blendi Gonxhja, announced today that interventions will soon be made at the Borsh Castle, to give this monument a new life.
He emphasized that the intervention in this unique monument will preserve history while improving the visitor experience.
The Minister also published details of this project, which envisages the conservation and stabilization of structures, the restoration of the mosque inside the castle, and the creation of new architectural elements such as footpaths, interpretive panels, an observation platform, and artistic lighting, providing Borsh Castle with lighting even in the evening.
The project is financed by the World Bank and will be implemented by the Albanian Development Fund, in cooperation with MTKS and the Municipality of Himara. Borsh Castle is located 500 meters above sea level and dates back to around the 4th-3rd century BC.
