Rama: We strengthen the role of the architect by law, no more water and electricity for unauthorized construction!
Prime Minister Edi Rama held a meeting today with mayors on the performance of local government in function of the "Albania 2030" vision in the European Union.
In his speech, the head of government focused on the role of the architect, emphasizing that his role and responsibility will be further strengthened in the legislation.
"Architects who collaborate with builders to violate building permits can no longer enjoy the architect's license and must face consequences of a criminal nature, as is the case all over the world. Meanwhile, building occupancy permits without the final signature of architects can no longer be granted ," Rama said.
Rama also emphasized that water and electricity will no longer be connected to buildings that do not have an official construction permit.
" Just as we should also look at taking another measure to prevent water and electricity connections for any construction that does not have an official construction permit and does not receive approval from the relevant structures to be connected to water and electricity. It is unimaginable that an unauthorized construction, restaurant, bar, hotel comes and says: I am in the process of legalization, I pay water, I pay electricity. It is all backwards! What has been done in the entire process of standardization of the introduction of the legalization law, of normalization, has been the right thing, but this noise cannot continue, because the law has also set a limit for legalizations ," he said.
