Rama: Europe wants us by its side! - What did the continent's leaders

The capital of Albania, Tirana, has welcomed the sixth summit of the European Political Community. Prime Minister Edi Rama, at the round table discussion with European leaders, declared that the dreams of Albanian children are painted in the welcoming home of European leaders. The Prime Minister added that the European continent today has a God-given opportunity to reinvent itself, to become a place of hope and vision, leaving behind the myths and doubts of the past.

“It is an extraordinary honor for my country, for the Albanian people. For my entire country and the Albanian people to welcome you to this place and to this house built especially for the European political community where you are not surrounded by the nightmares of Europe in the Renaissance painting nor by the emptiness of a meeting but by the imagination of Albanian children for Europe. This was a clear choice for us because children's dreams are not held hostage by the myths of the past. On the contrary, they dream of the future, and similar to the dreams of the founding fathers of Europe. You have come at a significant moment when we have learned to see the past through the eyes of the future, and not with the eyes of the past. Our journey is not a journey of abduction, but a return home, overflowing with dreams for the future. A home that does not resemble the shape of weapons, but the imagination of our children and founding fathers.”

The President of France, in his speech, emphasized that trade barriers must be removed while calling for lasting peace with Ukraine.

"Our market is more influential than the Chinese one. We need to remove trade barriers so that this Europe is more united. This is part of the discussions between the EU and Britain. More needs to be done on regional integration, which should be an issue for enlargement. Let's coordinate, let's be together to face competition from Asia to protect our markets. We are at a point in time when we need to master the situation."

European Council President Antonio Costa calls for peace, describing Ukraine's security as part of Europe's security.

“Europe must succeed in deepening and broadening its global trade networks. We must have partnerships. Europe must succeed in defending the multilateral order. The new EU will be a reliable partner in preserving the climate, we must use this energy. We must be united and Europe must succeed in bringing a lasting peace to Ukraine. Your security is also our security, dear Vladimir. We must succeed in bringing peace to the Middle East, if we do not, not only Europe's security but also its authority will be undermined.”

The Ukrainian president further emphasized that the war and killings must end.

"Thank you for welcoming us to this country that believes in Europe. The war must end as soon as possible and justly. Peace in Europe depends on whether Ukraine will win it."

The main discussion of the summit is "New Europe in a New World: Unity, Cooperation, Joint Action", while the discussions will focus on three roundtables that will address issues of security, economic competitiveness and youth empowerment, in the face of challenges such as the war in Ukraine, European defense and technological transformation.
