The government closes the religious school in Gjirokastra, here's how it will act to compensate students
The private pre-university educational institution of higher secondary education “Kryqi i Nderuar” in Gjirokastër has only 3 days after the entry into force of the VKM to close the institution's activities. This determination is noted in the relevant government decision. According to the decision, the school is obliged to cover all expenses for carrying out procedures for the transfer of students, to return payments made to the parents of students for the unfinished part of their education.
Responsibility for the closure of this school, according to the decision, lies with the Ministry of Education, the National Agency for Pre-University Education, the Regional Directorate of Pre-University Education in Fier, the Local Office of Pre-University Education in Gjirokastër-Libohovë, the school itself, as well as the Autocephalous Orthodox Church of Albania.

CLOSURE OF THE PRIVATE PRE-UNIVERSITY EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTION OF HIGHER SECONDARY EDUCATION “THE HOLY CROSS”, GJIROKASTĀR
In support of Article 100 of the Constitution and point 4, Article 42, of Law No. 69/2012, “On the pre-university education system in the Republic of Albania”, as amended, upon the proposal of the Minister of Education, the Council of Ministers
DECIDED:
1. The closure of the activity of the private pre-university educational institution of higher secondary education “Kryqi i Nderuar”, Gjirokastër, which also offers religious subjects, which was granted a permit to operate by decision no. 279, dated 10.6.1999, of the Council of Ministers, “On granting a permit to operate a non-public educational institution”.
2. The private pre-university educational institution of higher secondary education “Kryqi i Nderuar”, Gjirokastër, has the following obligations:
a) Provide each student with the necessary school documentation, which will serve for his/her transfer to another pre-university education institution;
b) To cover all expenses for carrying out procedures for the transfer of students, in implementation of this decision;
c) To refund payments made (if any) by the student's parent/legal representative for the unfinished part of the education, as well as any other unfulfilled obligations that may exist towards the student;
ç) To make available to the local educational institution responsible for pre-university education any information requested until all requirements provided for in this decision are met;
d) Submit to the Local State Archive all the documentation it has, as well as submit to the local educational institution responsible for pre-university education, a copy of the documentation and the minutes of its submission, according to the deadlines provided for in the legislation in force.
3. The local educational institution responsible for pre-university education, under whose jurisdiction the school is located, has the duty to:
a) to establish a working group, within 3 (three) days from the entry into force of this decision, and to take measures to close the activity of the private pre-university educational institution of higher secondary education "Kryqi i Nderuar", Gjirokastër;
b) take measures for the transfer of students to other pre-university education institutions for all students registered in this educational institution;
c) to administer all documentation related to the teaching activity carried out by the private pre-university educational institution.
4. Decision no. 279, dated 10.6.1999, of the Council of Ministers, “On granting operating permission to a non-public educational institution”, is repealed.
5. The Ministry of Education, the National Agency for Pre-University Education, the Regional Directorate of Pre-University Education Fier, the Local Office of Pre-University Education Gjirokastër-Libohovë, the private pre-university educational institution of higher secondary education “Holy Cross”, Gjirokastër, and the Autocephalous Orthodox Church of Albania are charged with the implementation of this decision.
This decision enters into force upon publication in the "Official Gazette".
