Malaj: New fiscal stamps with "Track & Trace" technology. More

The Minister of Finance, Petrit Malaj, stated after the Council of Ministers meeting that the government has approved amendments to the Council of Ministers' Decision No. 182 on the security elements of fiscal stamps, bringing innovations aimed at strengthening fiscal control and increasing food security in the country.

According to Malaj, the new fiscal stamps will have added security elements, which will make their counterfeiting much more difficult. Another innovation is the introduction of "Track & Trace" technology, which will give tax and customs authorities the opportunity to follow excise products from the manufacturer or importer to the final consumer.

The minister announced that the new stamps will also be equipped with a barcode, through which consumers will be able to obtain information on the origin of the product. By scanning the barcode with their phone, citizens will have access to data such as the manufacturer, importer, date of entry of the product into Albania and other important information for food safety.

Malaj also emphasized that fiscal stamps have been produced for more than a year by the state-owned company ALBTrace, at a cost about 20% lower compared to the previous concessionaire.

According to him, the proposed changes are in line with European Union standards and aim to improve fiscal administration, as well as increase food safety standards in Albania.
