Tirana-Durrës, 1.3 billion lek for lighting and greenery - ARRSH opens the

With a limited fund of around 1.3 billion lekë, the Albanian Road Authority has opened the tender for the completion of works and the aesthetic improvement of the Tirana - Durrës highway, from Shqiponja Square to the Limuthi underpass. The segment included corresponds to the expanded part of this road axis, which was opened to vehicle traffic a few weeks ago, as well as to phase 3 where work is currently underway.

According to the tender documents, the interventions will focus mainly on greening along the highway, through the arrangement of existing surfaces and the creation of new green spaces, as well as the planting of decorative trees and shrubs on the medians and roadsides. It is also envisaged to build an automated irrigation system, remotely monitored, for the maintenance of these spaces.

The project also includes interventions to improve road lighting and safety elements. The technical report foresees the use of high-efficiency LED lights with a lifespan of up to 100,000 hours, as well as the placement of lighting poles at regular intervals along the segment.

In addition to greenery and lighting, the intervention will also include the coating of the underpass walls in the area of the former Shqiponja Square, as well as the resurfacing of asphalt layers in the damaged segments, which have not undergone intervention for more than a decade.

The deadline for submitting bids is set for mid-June.
