PS selects heads of parliamentary committees - Former ministers Manja, for Laws,

In its first meeting, the Socialist Party parliamentary group, led by Prime Minister Edi Rama, has determined the heads of the parliamentary committees. As announced at the SP Assembly, the majority will head 7 committees, while the opposition will head four.

Three of the permanent committees will be headed by former ministers of the “Rama 3” government. Specifically, former Minister of Justice, Ulsi Manja will head the Parliamentary Committee on Legal Affairs and Public Administration, former Minister of Agriculture, Anila Denaj, the Committee on Natural Resources, Infrastructure and Sustainable Development, and former Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Igli Hasani, will head the committee of the same name.

Meanwhile, two leaders have also been appointed: Damian Gjiknuri will head the special commission for electoral reform and Arbjan Mazniku will head the special commission for territorial reform.

On the other hand, the Democratic Party has not yet proposed the heads of the permanent parliamentary committees. The opposition is expected to lead four committees: Education, Science and Sports, Health and Social Welfare, Human Rights and Public Information Media, as well as the Committee on Culture, Tourism and Diaspora.

The shaping of the new Assembly is expected to begin tomorrow, with the morning session to establish the new structure and main bodies of the Assembly. Meanwhile, in the afternoon session, a vote on the new structure is expected after the SP's proposal to change the number of committees.

A two-day session will be held on Thursday and Friday where the new government's political program will be presented, followed by discussions by MPs.

The President of the Republic is expected to decree the ministers of the "Rama 4" government, who will then be sworn in as President.
