The project for the requalification of the Benja Thermal Waters - Kumbaro: We

Works continue at the Benja Thermal Springs construction site with the aim of improving services, the tourist landscape and requalification interventions to create a sustainable development attraction. Minister of Tourism and Environment Mirela Kumbaro closely inspected the works.

"With the Albanian Development Fund, we have started investing in a redevelopment site for the entire area as a need to intervene first and foremost to orient the flows, both of the cars that gather at the entrance to this natural and tourist area, as well as to organize the entire space, offering services. Here we have a total lack of water and electricity. With this investment by the Albanian government, we will turn it into an attraction of sustainable development, because we are in a protected area and we must be very careful not to have serious interventions ," said the minister.

This project is divided into several areas which include a parking area, a camper area, picnic areas, an area dedicated to the sale of local and artisanal products, a bathtub area, an amphitheater designed for events, as well as a services area where there will also be showers and changing rooms.

Minister Kumbaro requested close cooperation between the Përmet municipality and the National Agency for Protected Areas for the successful management of this attraction.

"We need cooperation with the municipality to find a good management model, in order to maintain the standard, cleanliness and prevent all this investment from degenerating. This is why we are all here today, together with the Vjosa National Park administration office, the National Agency for Protected Areas and the municipalities of Këlcyrë and Përmet, which have this area as one of their favorite tourist destinations on their tourist map. "

This investment is expected to be completed in March 2026.
