National Parking Program - Demo: Growth in urban and tourist areas, investments also in cooperation with the private sector

The government has introduced the National Parking Program, an initiative that aims to address one of the most pressing issues in Albanian cities, especially in areas with high tourist influx.
After the government meeting, the Minister of Local Government, Ervin Demo, announced that the program will focus on identifying all existing spaces and capacities in the territory for the construction of new parking lots.
"This is a program that will especially affect urban areas and municipalities that are affected by tourist flows. It is a program that will identify all the capacities that are in the territory for the construction of new parking lots. These can also be done in cooperation with the private sector. This program in its essence will increase the functionality of cities and at the same time improve the quality of life of citizens, especially when we talk about urban areas," said Demo.
In parallel, the minister also announced the finalization of the 20 million euro grant awarded by the United Arab Emirates, which will go to support municipalities across the country.
"The 20 million euro grant awarded by the United Arab Emirates has already taken shape, and very quickly, a complete logistics with tools, which are necessary for municipalities to prevent the effects of climate change, but at the same time to improve infrastructure, especially in rural areas ," said Demo.
This investment is considered an important support for local government, at a time when municipalities face numerous challenges related to the growing impacts of climate change.
