Pensions, over 22 thousand contributors added to the scheme - The figure reaches

The Albanian economy has performed positively over the past year, with the indicator being not only the significant increase in revenues in the state budget but also the increase in the number of employees.

Official data from the Social Security Institute show that the number of employees and consequently those contributing to the social security scheme registered a total of 805,416 contributors by entity, or 22,165 more contributors.

While if those individuals whose insurance is paid by the state or with short-term benefits are included, the figure reaches 843,867, the highest in the last 5 years in both cases.

Specifically, if we analyze by entity, in 2024 there are 542,809 contributors in the private sector, registering an increase of 7,944 employees more than in 2023.

Private sector employees also account for 64.3% of the total number of contributors to the insurance scheme. An important role in this progress has been played by the anti-informality campaign launched by the government last year, which aimed not only at formalizing the labor market but also at real wage declaration.

But in parallel with the private sector, the state administration has also expanded, registering 166,810 thousand employees in 2024, with an increase of 1,234 employees. The public administration accounts for 19.4% of the total number of employees in the country.

Meanwhile, good news is the increase in the number of formalized farmers who have become part of the social security scheme. In 2024, there will be 88,866 self-employed in agriculture, with an increase of 13,415 formalized farmers compared to the previous year. This category now accounts for 10.5 percent of the total number of individuals contributing to the scheme.

One of the reasons for the positive progress of formalization in agriculture is the need to benefit from the funds made available by the Ministry of Agriculture, through the National Support Scheme but also the Guarantee Scheme, where having a grandson and paying contributions is the main criterion for qualification.

While the number of individuals voluntarily contributing to the scheme has decreased by 431, registering at 6,931 contributors.

The minimum salary on which social contributions are calculated is 40 thousand lek and the maximum salary is 176 thousand lek.
