Brits are leaving the Mediterranean for Albania - TikTok influencers are driving the trend to visit Albania
A new wave of tourists from the United Kingdom is abandoning traditional Mediterranean destinations like Malaga and Benidorm to discover cheaper and less crowded destinations, with Albania at the top of the list.
According to a publication by "The Guardian", described by the media as "the new Croatia", our country has seen a 61% increase in visits from Britain during 2024 alone.
This change is being driven by a strong trend on TikTok, where many influencers are promoting so-called "destination dupes" - places that offer nature and experiences similar to famous destinations, but at much more affordable prices.
"Vacations have become expensive, the beaches are full of people. Albania offers everything without queues, without stress," says one of the travel bloggers followed by thousands of followers on the network.
Data from the UK's Civil Aviation Authority shows that in addition to Albania, travel to Montenegro and Bosnia has also increased significantly. But what sets Albania apart is its combination of pristine beaches, cheap food and hospitality that foreigners describe as "exceptional".
The number of individuals arriving from countries like England, Wales, Scotland or Northern Ireland this year is estimated at around 150 thousand.
