After Montenegro, also the 1-year "Green Card" with North Macedonia at a reduced price of 50 Euros
Starting from April 1, 2025, Albanian citizens will have the opportunity to travel to North Macedonia with a 1-year "Green Card" insurance policy, at a reduced price of 50 Euros. This is the second measure taken in a short period of time to facilitate the movement of Albanian citizens to border countries, following the entry into force on February 1, 2025 of the 1-year "Green Card" insurance policy with Montenegro.
The Financial Supervisory Authority, within the framework of the implementation of the recommendations of the Joint Committee of the Central European Free Trade Agreement (CEFTA) for the facilitation of cross-border movement, has collaborated closely with the Albanian Security Bureau (BSHS), to facilitate the movement of vehicles with Albanian license plates towards border countries.
Based on the decision of the Albanian Insurance Bureau (BSHS), Albanian citizens can now obtain at all insurance company sales points the “Green Card” insurance policy for cars with a 12-month validity, at a price of 50 Euros, which covers the territory of North Macedonia. This decision supports the movement of citizens by reducing costs and promoting economic exchanges with our southeastern neighbor.
Insurance companies will offer at all points of sale the "Green Card" insurance policy for cars with a 1-year validity period for North Macedonia and Montenegro, and will also continue to offer the "Green Card" with a 15-day validity period at a price of 15 euros.
The "Green Card" is an international insurance document that covers the liability of drivers of vehicles with Albanian license plates in the event of an accident while driving outside the country's territory.
