EU countries "deport" over 8 thousand Albanians/ Eurostat: We rank

According to data from the "European Statistical Agency", around 2,130 Albanians have returned after an order to leave one of the European Union countries where they were located, referring to the last quarter of 2024, while for the entire year 2024 this figure is estimated at around 8,400 people.

During the last three months of 2024, around 125,000 non-EU citizens were ordered to leave an EU country and almost 29,000 people were returned to third countries following an order to leave. 

Compared to the third quarter of 2024, the number of outbound orders increased by 11.5%, while the number of returns to third countries increased by 3.3%. 

Compared to the same quarter of 2023, the number of non-EU citizens ordered to leave increased by 16.3%, while the number of persons returned to third countries increased by 24.3%. 

According to figures from the European Statistical Agency, among non-EU nationals ordered to leave the territory of an EU country in this period, the majority were Algerian nationals (11,362), followed by nationals of Syria (8,674) and Morocco (8,561). Among those returned to third countries, the majority were nationals of Georgia (3,351), followed by Turkey (2,492) and Albania (1,982).

According to Eurostat, the largest returns of Albanian citizens in the fourth quarter of the current year were made from Greece, France, Germany and Italy.
