Android and iOS, "head to head" in Albania/ Which operating system do Albanians use the most?
The use of mobile platforms in Albania continues to evolve, reflecting global trends and consumer preferences. According to the latest statistics, the Albanian smartphone market is dominated by two main operating systems: Android and iOS.
According to the latest data, Android occupies 52.77% of the Albanian smartphone market, establishing itself as the most used operating system in the country. This platform continues to remain the main choice thanks to the variety of devices and cheaper options it offers. Manufacturers such as Samsung, Xiaomi and Huawei are some of the brands that support this operating system.
An interesting statistic worth noting is that Samsung, one of the leading Android phone manufacturers, has a small market share in Albania, only 0.18%. This figure may reflect a significant decrease in the brand's popularity in the country, perhaps due to competition from other Android brands such as Xiaomi, Oppo, and Huawei.
On the other hand, iOS has a penetration of 47.02%, showing strong competition with Android. Apple devices, such as the iPhone and iPad, continue to be highly preferred by Albanian consumers, despite the higher cost.
During 2024, the market share of mobile operating systems in Albania has shown significant fluctuations. iOS has maintained an overall dominance, starting the year with 67.55% in January, peaking in February with 71.14%, and gradually decreasing to 52.4% in December.
Android has had the opposite trend, starting at 32.24% in January and growing to 47.28% by the end of the year. The market share for Samsung, Windows and other operating systems has remained minimal throughout the year, with Samsung fluctuating between 0.1% and 0.29%. This data shows a strong competition between iOS and Android in Albania, with temporary increases in one platform corresponding to a decline in the other.
