Parties "face" economic programs - DP: Fiscal sustainability. "Opportunity": Spending cuts
The Chamber of Commerce and Industry, in cooperation with Monitor magazine, organized a conference to discuss the economic programs of the political forces participating in the May 11 parliamentary elections.
Present at this event were representatives from the Democratic Party and several new parties, while the Socialist Party was absent due to its political commitments.
The Democratic Party, represented by Jorida Tabaku and Dorian Teliti, emphasized the establishment of a sustainable fiscal code, as well as a flat tax for businesses.
"Regarding the level of taxation, we support the low tax, namely the flat tax. We aim to restore it for personal income, giving up the progressive taxation of 23%, which has negatively affected the country's economy."
"The main principle of the entire fiscal package and at the same time of the economic policy proposed by the Democratic Party is sustainability. In the last 12 years, fiscal legislation has changed over 60 times, while the law on tax procedures has changed a full 180 times. We demand stability and predictability, " said Jorida Tabaku, DP MP.
Meanwhile, the Opportunity Party, represented by its leader Agron Shehaj, is focusing on reducing public administration expenses.
“Our vision is a small state, with lower taxes. Our main proposal is to create a more efficient and lower-cost administration. Today, the Albanian state spends 8.2 billion euros.”
Special attention was paid to Albania's foreign trade at this event. The growing dependence on imports was highlighted, while more support was requested for the agricultural sector, which is making an increasingly smaller contribution to the country's Gross Domestic Product.
