About 90 thousand electoral envelopes distributed in the diaspora - Celibashi: Efficiency and guarantees are increasing. 3-5 years in prison for vote buying and selling
The process of distributing ballots to emigrants has begun, while Chief Commissioner Ilirjan Celibashi stated that around 90,000 envelopes have been sent, representing over 30% of the total number of voters registered outside Albania.
Celibashi announced that preparations have begun today for sending ballots to voters in the Korça and Lezha districts, while in the second part of the day the Tirana district will also begin.
During the conference, the chief commissioner stated that Italy, Greece and Germany are the three countries where the largest distribution of envelopes has been carried out so far, this as a result of the high number of Albanian emigrants who live and work in these countries. However, the possibility that the distribution of envelopes to voters from abroad may not be completed within the foreseen deadline is not excluded, this due to the burden of delivery and increased controls.
Meanwhile, once the ballot is in the DHL and CEC system, 100% confidentiality is guaranteed, while the head of the CEC emphasized that several work processes have been modified along the way to increase efficiency and guarantee, while saying that voters will be notified by phone message or email when the envelope arrives, and if they cannot wait for it at home, the message will contain data regarding the location of the offices where they can go to collect it.
Celibashi clarified that any attempt to sell, buy or show the vote before it is submitted is the responsibility of citizens and is accompanied by criminal consequences, 3-5 years in prison.
