"We will formalize the tourism industry" - Berisha: The state will take over part of the salaries of employees outside the seasons
During a conversation with tourism associations, the leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, said that this sector has a very major problem, which is informality. According to him, this informality affects honest entrepreneurs who develop transparent investments.
This informality in Albania, if we compare it with Montenegro, is like this. Montenegro with 2.8 million tourists per year, records 16.8 million overnight stays. Albania with 10 million tourists per year, records 6, last year 7 million overnight stays. If we do not compare it with Croatia which records about 100 million overnight stays. So we have an extraordinary level of informality. The formalization of tourism is perhaps one of the most fundamental conditions.
According to Berisha, the state will take over part of the salaries of tourism industry employees outside the seasons.
Together with these associations, we will reach an agreement where the state will take over part of the salaries of tourism industry employees outside the seasons. Otherwise, they will start from scratch every year. The practice that exists in Greece and Italy will also be established in Albania because we have no less potential than them. Just as everything will be done to extend the tourist season as much as possible.
Bewërisha added that there are many possibilities, Albania is touristic in every season and this is another direction.
