"Salaries in public administration increased from 35%- 65%"/ Pirdeni: Three chapters of negotiations towards closure

Albania is ready to close three more chapters in the negotiation process with the European Union. This was announced by the Minister of State for Public Administration and Anti-Corruption, Adea Pirdeni, during a conference.
"We are taking measures to ensure that the current administration responds to this challenge, but at the same time we have launched an assessment process to identify the needs that need to be addressed. There are areas where Albania needs to strengthen its administrative and legislative implementation capacities, so we are analyzing where we still need to increase our capacities. We are at a stage where we have concluded one of the key moments of the negotiations, which is the assessment of intermediate milestones. Albania is ready to conclude the other chapters of the negotiations, three of which are in the final phase ," said Pirdeni.
Pirdeni said that the salary reform, with a 35-65% increase since 2023 in the central and local administration, has been the government's main instrument for strengthening the capacities and motivating public employees, while adding that the increases will continue.
The Minister emphasized that the focus of the work is also strengthening administrative capacities in the field of control, transparency and accountability, as essential elements for meeting European standards.
