Price for self-producers of energy - ERE, Ahmeti: It will be approved within the year. The way is opened for the application of the new scheme
The Energy Regulatory Authority will approve the electricity price for self-producers within this year. The confirmation was given by the head of the ERE, Petrit Ahmeti, during the discussion of the Resolution for the department he heads.
The determination of this price will come after the approval in May of the new scheme for self-producers of energy from renewable sources, moving from the "net metering" model to the "net billing" one, a mechanism that aims to further integrate household producers and businesses into the electricity market.
Under the new scheme, excess energy will no longer be compensated in kWh, but in monetary value, through a net billing system.
This means that the energy injected into the network will be purchased by the energy supplier, while the positive difference between the energy delivered and the energy consumed will be transferred as a monetary credit to the following month's bill.
More specifically, self-producers have the right to produce energy for their own use, store it and sell the surplus on the market, through agreements with energy suppliers. In the case of apartment buildings or multi-apartment buildings, the scheme also allows for collective self-production and energy sharing among residents.
