Implementation of the pension agreement with Italy begins - Balla: Italian authorities, delays in application details. Does not affect the process
Starting tomorrow (July 1), the pension recognition agreement between Albania and Italy will begin to be implemented. All citizens who have reached retirement age can contact the Social Security offices in Italy and Albania to benefit. However, the president of the “Diaspora 91-19” Association, Esat Balla, tells TV Scan that there have been some delays in Italy, but that this does not affect the process.
The pension agreement between Albania and Italy comes into force, starting from July 1. From Tuesday, Albanian citizens who have paid contributions in both countries can apply through the Social Security offices in Italy and Albania, but also online on the e-Albania portal. However, the president of the “Diaspora 91-19” Association, Esat Balla, states that in Italy there have been some delays in the practical implementation of the already approved law. In an interview for TV Scan, Mr. Balla said that the technical circular, which will explain how citizens can apply, has not yet been published.
Also, Mr. Balla explains that the law recognizes the right to a pension only to those who have paid contributions and not those who may have worked illegally.
The Social Security Institute in Albania has announced that it has taken all measures to cope with the influx of applications. All citizens can combine their insurance periods in both countries, so as not to lose any contribution, regardless of time and place. To receive a pension in Italy, a minimum of 20 years of work is required, while in Albania it is 15 years. However, with this agreement, all those who do not meet the condition of years of work have the opportunity to benefit because the years are combined.
