Heatwaves in Southern Europe have brought extreme temperatures to southern Europe. Experts warn that these events are becoming increasingly common due to climate change.
Severe heatwaves across southern Europe have pushed temperatures above 40°C in several countries, including Italy, Spain and Greece, as local authorities issued new warnings against the risk of wildfires.
Experts link the increasing frequency and intensity of these heat waves to climate change, noting that such extreme weather events are becoming increasingly common in the southern region of Europe.

Italian unions urged the government to extend such measures nationwide. On Sunday, the Italian Health Ministry placed 21 of the 27 cities monitored on alert, including major holiday destinations such as Rome, Milan and Naples.
In Spain, locals and tourists alike were bracing for temperatures of up to 42°C in the southern city of Seville, with other cities in the south and central parts of the country recording similar figures. The country's national meteorological service said June was set to break another record, becoming the hottest such month since records began.
