Rehabilitation of the Hekal-Klos road in Mallakastër, Balluku begins: It serves the residents and visitors of the archaeological park
In the municipality of Mallakastra, work has started on the rehabilitation of the Hekal-Klos road. An investment of the Albanian Development Fund which foresees a complete intervention in the entire length of the road, its expansion as well as the increase of road safety through the elimination of some black spots. It will also intervene for the systemization of white water and the construction of side canals.
The Deputy Prime Minister, Belinda Balluku, the Mayor of Mallakastër, Qerim Ismailaj, as well as representatives from the ADF closely followed the works, which are expected to be completed within eight months, thus being ready by the summer of next year.
The rehabilitation of this road serves the further development of agriculture and livestock in the area. It also facilitates access to the archeological park of Bylis, where the number of visitors has increased year after year. "It will not just be a road that is paved, but also expanded. It expands from 3.5 to 4.5 meters and on the other hand we have the elimination of curves which is a very important part. Then the cleaning of the canals", said Balluku.
The opening of the first agritourism units has already started in the area, so the improvement of the infrastructure will turn it into an even more visited destination.
"We need an open and continuous dialogue with the residents to explain to them how the support packages for agrotourism work, and how we can further promote all the values of this area, which is not only related to agrotourism, but also to the archaeological parks and from on the other hand, let's not forget that first of all the road infrastructure or the energy infrastructure is a function of the residents", said Balluku.
For the mayor Ismailaj, this investment has been welcomed by the residents who see it as a relief in their daily life. The Hekal-Klos road has a length of nearly 3 kilometers.
