Bad weather in Durrës/AKMC: Work continues to remove water, some residents

 

The Ministry of Defense announces that together with all operational structures of civil emergencies, they are carefully monitoring the situation and are working on the ground to restore normality as soon as possible in the most problematic areas of the country after the heavy rainfall recorded on Wednesday in several parts of the territory.

"We are mainly focused on the Municipality of Durrës, where work is being done in several areas to normalize the situation. The Armed Forces, AKMC, local structures and Civil Emergencies near the municipality are working to restore normality at the stadium intersection, at the train station, in the "17 Nëntori" neighborhood, in the Kënetës area and in Shkozet," the announcement states.

According to published information, Civil Emergencies have come to the aid of 4 children trapped in a school van and a family, while the most problematic situation is in about 40 apartments in Shkozet, where the presence of water has been recorded. Supporting the forces on the ground are the Armed Forces with 2 high-capacity suction pumps and 3 high-pass vehicles.

Currently, work is being done on the ground by the forces of the Durrës Regional Drainage Directorate to clean the High Water Canal in the city ring road, while the Port Authority structures, Durrës Municipality enterprises, the Municipal Department of Environment and Natural Resources, and the Municipal Police are also engaged.

The critical part has already been overcome, while the Prefect of Durrës, at the civil emergencies meeting, made a summary of the situation that is moving towards normalization. The hydropower plant is working at full capacity, while the water level in the Erzen and Ishëm rivers is within the quotas and does not pose a risk. Normal situation in the dams of the water collectors and dischargers. 

In the rest of the country, the situation is under control and there are no traffic problems. All rivers and reservoirs are within their normal quotas and do not pose any danger. The National Civil Emergencies Agency and the Armed Forces are on standby to intervene in other parts of the country, such as the regions of Shkodër, Lezhë, Durrës and Tirana, where moderate rainfall is expected, accompanied by thunderstorms.
