The government has approved the National Culture Strategy 2026-2030, the document that will serve as a roadmap for the development of the arts, culture and cultural heritage sector over the next five years. The strategy aims to strengthen the role of culture in the economic, social and territorial development of the country, in line with the European integration process and Albania's international commitments.
The Minister of Tourism, Culture and Sports, Blendi Gonxhja, said that the document foresees reforms in the legal framework, modernization of cultural policies, promotion of cultural tourism and gradual increase in financing of the sector, with the aim that investments in culture and recreation reach 1-1.2% of Gross Domestic Product by 2030.
In conclusion, Minister Gonxha stated that during the first half of the year, around 1,700 cultural activities were held, or 26% more compared to the same period last year. He emphasized that increased funding, decentralization of decision-making in cultural institutions, and initiatives for sponsoring arts and sports aim to turn culture into an engine of economic development, bringing more investment, tourism, and employment.
