Over 1200 applications for the Mountain Package/ Koçiu: Development zones have been announced in 52 municipalities, opportunities for the rural economy
Over 1,200 applications have been approved under the Mountain Package, according to Deputy Prime Minister Albana Koçiu. During a meeting in the Municipality of Vau i Dejës with residents who have applied for this program and passed the first phase of the process, Koçiu said that so far over 400 development zones in 52 municipalities have been approved.
" To date, in addition to Vau i Dejës, over 400 development zones have been approved in other municipalities. In 52 municipalities in the country, we have over 1200 applications approved so far, which means that the interest has been extraordinary. I am glad that we are here together with some of the witnesses of this process, which actually begins with a very close cooperation with the municipality, in this specific case with the Municipality of Vau i Dejës, as all the necessary documentation will have to be presented to declare that a property, a plot of land or a building has been owned for at least 10 years by the one who applies or who wants to develop that property and make an investment in that property. Then, the municipality carries out its administrative process and then follows up with the Territorial Development Agency, with the receipt and approval of the development plan and then with the other applications", - said Koçiu.
According to Koçiu, the "Mountain Package" is a program created for families and residents of mountainous areas.
" It is not at all a package for oligarchs or foreign investors. It is an extraordinary opportunity for family businesses, for local residents of mountainous areas, for those who have lived in those areas for years and have had the inability to develop their own idea, a local business, an opportunity for further growth due to the inability to dispose of the property on the land or facility where the investment idea they have should be developed," she declared.
Koçiu also spoke about the "Double Your Entrepreneurship" program, which creates opportunities for businesses to receive loans with subsidized interest rates. Under this program, businesses can benefit from loans with interest rates of 2 to 3 percent, with a term of up to 10 years, while the state guarantees up to 70 percent of the collateral, enabling entrepreneurs to invest in equipment, technology and the expansion of their activity.
