Minister Salla: Agricultural Exchange, more alternatives and negotiating power for farmers in selling their production

The Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Andis Salla, presented the initiative to establish the Agricultural Exchange, a new mechanism that aims to change the way farmers connect with the market, giving them more information and alternatives at the time of selling their produce.
Through the Agricultural Exchange, wholesale buyers will be able to declare the product they are looking for, the quantity, quality and price they are willing to offer. Farmers, on the other hand, will be able to view and compare offers, choosing the one that is most convenient for them.
"We move from 'what is the price?' to 'who is buying it and what is the best offer?'. Every day, through the Agricultural Exchange, this information will be accessible to farmers, connecting them directly to real market demand," said Minister Salla.
According to him, the new mechanism aims to create a more transparent, organized and competitive market, while simultaneously increasing the negotiating power of farmers vis-à-vis buyers.
"We want the farmer not to be faced with just one offer, but to have the opportunity to choose between offers, because when there are more alternatives, there is more opportunity for a better and fairer price for the farmer's work," emphasized Salla.
The Minister underlined that the Agricultural Exchange also comes as a response to one of the most frequent concerns raised by farmers, the price at which their produce is sold.
"The Agricultural Exchange is a new step towards a stronger and fairer market for the Albanian farmer," concluded Minister Salla.
