Less CO2, more clean air - January-February, 77% of new vehicles are electric
Green vehicles are continuing to convincingly increase their dominance in road traffic in Albania.
According to the General Directorate of Road Transport, 683 all-electric vehicles were registered during the period January-February 2025, an increase of 46% compared to the same period a year earlier. Likewise, 38% of vehicles with 0 Km registered for the first time are electric.
Meanwhile, the electric vehicle fleet reached 7,061 in February 2025, 11% more compared to 2024.
On the other hand, the positive trend continues for plug-in electric/hybrid vehicles, where 77% of vehicles with 0 km registered for the first time are plug-in electric/hybrid vehicles, with an increase of 37.5% compared to the same period a year ago.
According to data from the General Directorate of Road Transport, the increase in registrations for green vehicles has also brought an environmental impact, noting that 901,560 kg of CO2/year have been reduced, which means 30,052 cleaner and healthier environmental lungs.
Also, 73.5% of vehicles registered during January-February 2025 are Euro 5 and above, improving air quality and transport sustainability in the country.
Albania is moving towards a more environmentally friendly transition, as figures show an increase in interest in green ecological cars, embracing clean technologies in transportation.
