The Llogara tunnel is closed to traffic - ARRSH: All necessary works will be

The Albanian Road Authority has announced that the Llogara Tunnel in Vlora will be closed today, November 5, in order to complete all the necessary works for the full delivery of this project.

ARRSH asks for the understanding of the drivers as well as the residents of the area. According to the announcement, the works are being carried out after the end of the summer season, where the opening of the Llogara Tunnel facilitated the circulation of vehicles, as well as shortened the travel time.

The Llogara tunnel was opened on July 5 of this year, significantly facilitating the flow of vehicles towards the Riviera and reducing the travel time to 8 minutes from 40 minutes before the opening of the tunnel, simultaneously increasing road safety parameters.

The 5.9 km long tunnel will allow a speed of 50 - 80 km/h.

The works for the construction of the tunnel started on November 15, 2021, after the tender competition held, which was won by a Turkish consortium consisting of two companies.

The Turkish consortium was declared the winner with the offer of 17 billion ALL. Together with the Value Added Tax, the cost for the construction of the Llogara tunnel is about 20 billion ALL.

The Llogara tunnel shortens the access time to the south of the country by about 45 minutes. It starts from the Saint Eliza Bridge and ends at the Palasa Bridge, while it is part of the Orikum - Himarë road section, part of the Vlorë - Sarandë Highway.
