4.6 billion euros spent in 9 months - Which of the sectors received more and less money from the state budget?
The state budget spent 459.6 billion ALL for the first 9 months of the year, or about 4.6 billion euros, which went to different items.
But how was this money distributed and which sectors received the most?
The detailed official data from the Bank of Albania show that for the period January-September 2024, out of 10 categories in total, social protection is the one that takes the largest part of the "cake" from the budget, where for the 9-month period, the expenses for this categories are registered at nearly ALL 156.1 billion. Social protection includes pensions, as well as all payments given by the Social Security Institute to a variety of beneficiaries.
General public services are listed in the second place, where 85.1 billion ALL were spent in 9 months, an amount that includes capital investments.
A significant weight is also occupied by education, as the expenses for this sector are recorded at the value of 51.5 billion lek, a figure which also includes teachers' salaries.
Around ALL 48.6 billion have been spent on health, where apart from investments in buildings, salaries and bonuses for white shirts are also included.
Economic affairs have received a budget of 37.4 billion lek in 9 months, where, in addition to unemployment payments and economic assistance, grants for business support are also included.
Public order and security have received a budget of 31.9 billion lek, which also covers the monthly salaries of the blue uniforms. 22.3 billion ALL have been allocated for housing and community amenities. On the other hand, 13.2 billion ALL went to the defense sector.
According to the data, entertainment, culture and religious issues "cost" less to the state budget, a category for which 6.9 billion ALL were spent, and environmental protection, for which about 5.4 billion ALL went in the first 9 months of the year .
