Defense Minister Vengu receives Bulgarian counterpart: Concretization of investments in industry and infrastructure
Minister of Defense, Pirro Vengu, received today in Tirana, the Minister of Defense of Bulgaria, Atanas Zapryanov, who made his first official visit to Albania, accompanied by a high-ranking delegation.
During the meeting, both ministers emphasized the very good relations between the two countries in the field of Defense and Security, appreciating the importance of deepening regional cooperation in the face of common challenges in Southeast Europe.
In a post on social networks, Minister Vengu writes that "With Bulgaria we share genuine assessments of the risks and challenges in Southeast Europe, and of the importance of concretizing strategic investments in industry and infrastructure, such as Corridor VIII and Porto Romano, for the mobility of allied forces in the region. Albania and Bulgaria will continue to stand side by side in missions to support joint European security, as we currently do in the NATO Forward Presence in Bulgaria, as well as in the KFOR mission in Kosovo."
The ministers reconfirmed their commitment to continue their joint contribution to international missions, where Albania and Bulgaria serve together in the NATO Forward Presence in Bulgaria and in the KFOR mission in Kosovo, as evidence of their determination to strengthen security and stability in Europe.
The visit of the Bulgarian Minister of Defense is valuable as it strengthens bilateral relations and mutual trust between the two countries, emphasizes the importance of infrastructure projects not only for economic development but also for regional security, and conveys the message that regional security is a shared responsibility of our countries.
