Over 66 thousand vehicles registered for the first time - 8 months, Asian cars confirm the upward trend

Data published by the General Directorate of Road Transport Services, for the period January-August 2025, reflect an increase in the total number of vehicles registered for the first time. 66,521 vehicles were registered in Albania, indicating an increasing trend of improving the road fleet in the country.
Also, the countries of origin of these vehicles were taken into account in the analysis, where it results that the 'main supplier' was the Republic of Korea with 21%, confirming the growing trend of interest in Asian vehicles. This is followed by Italy with 15.9%; Germany with 15.4%; Switzerland with 8.5%; the USA with 8.2%, and China with 8%. These figures show a clear picture of the trends of the vehicle market in Albania, where preference for European and Asian brands continues to prevail.
On the other hand, it is also worth mentioning the dynamics of permanent deregistrations of vehicles. According to the General Directorate of Road Transport, during the period January-August 2025, 5,333 permanent deregistrations were counted, which constitutes an increase of 17.6% compared to the same period in 2024. Meanwhile, this increase is mainly related to the withdrawal from circulation of depreciated vehicles, which no longer meet technical or road safety standards.
Enriching the fleet with new vehicles and retiring old vehicles helps improve road safety and reduce environmental pollution, by removing old and unsafe vehicles from circulation.
