Over 338 thousand vehicles checked in 2025 - DPSHTRR: 23.5% of them had technical problems and did not pass the test

During 2025, 338,880 technical vehicle tests were conducted across the country, with a significant number failing to meet the required standards for circulation. The General Directorate of Road Transport Services reports that 23.5% of vehicles failed the technical test.
In total, 81,065 vehicles were rejected, mainly due to problems related to technical safety and environmental impact, such as: exhaust emissions 37.6%; problems with visual defects 34.4%; problems with the braking system account for 15.2% of rejections, while steering and suspension defects account for 12.8%.
The largest share of inspected vehicles is made up of personal vehicles, with 86.6%, followed by trucks with 6.3%, motorcycles with 4.5%, buses with 1.6%, as well as trailers and work vehicles.
After carrying out the necessary adjustments and repairs, 73,230 vehicles were successfully retested and returned to circulation, now with higher safety standards. However, 7,502 vehicles are still awaiting repair. Meanwhile, 333 vehicles were ultimately rejected, after the inspection found odometer manipulation, a safety violation.
Another element is the final deregistration of old vehicles. During 2025, over 9,333 vehicles were taken out of circulation, a step towards safer roads and a cleaner environment.
The DPSHTRR emphasizes that technical inspection guarantees safer vehicles and more protected roads for everyone.
