The Assembly approves in principle the 8.2 billion euro budget for 2025 - 75 votes in favor and 40 against for the most important financial document
The Assembly has in principle approved the draft budget for 2025. With 75 votes in favor, zero abstentions and 40 against in this Tuesday's session, the marathon debate and discussions have ended. 116 deputies were present, while 22 present in the hall did not participate in the vote.
The budget captures the figure of around 8.2 billion euros and the expenses planned for 2025 will be spent on investments, local government, salaries, social protection, the reconstruction process, etc.
About 1/3 of the total expenditure goes to social protection, social insurance, pension scheme, economic assistance, unemployment payment or compensation for former owners.
According to the government's draft, the Budget for 2025 fulfills two fundamental objectives, sustainable economic growth, creating employment, development and well-being for all Albanian citizens, as well as fiscal consolidation, with the aim of reducing public debt and maintaining all macroeconomic parameters fiscal at positive levels. Budget revenues for 2025 are predicted at 754.6 billion ALL or 28.8% of GDP and compared to the revised plan for 2024, they are about 40.6 billion ALL more.
For next year, the Government aims for a debt level of 55.8% of GDP, from the 56.3% it is expected to reach by the end of 2024.
