The flow of Russian gas to the EU via Ukraine is stable – Nominations in Austria are also increasing!
Russian gas producer Gazprom said it would send 42.4 million cubic meters of gas to Europe via Ukraine on Tuesday, the same volume as on Monday, as nominations for gas flows to Austria from Slovakia rose.
European energy markets have been under tension due to a contractual dispute between Gazprom and Austria's OMV which saw the Kremlin-controlled firm halt supplies to the Vienna-based company on Saturday.
Flows to OMV were halted after it threatened to block some of Gazprom's gas as compensation for an arbitration it had won over the contractual dispute.
Daily flows to Europe via Ukraine have remained around normal levels, however, and gas has continued to flow to Austria.
Nominations, or requests from customers, for flows to Austria from Slovakia rose 6% on Tuesday from Monday, but remained about 12% below levels seen before Gazprom halted OMV supplies.
It was not clear who was buying gas previously destined for OMV.
Nominations for the Czech Republic from Slovakia were roughly in line with levels seen earlier in the month.
Nominations for streams into Slovakia from Ukraine also changed little while nominations for flows leaving Slovakia were largely stable, data from broadcasting system operator Eustream showed.
