Prime Minister Edi Rama, at the Annual Conference of the IAIS (International Organization of Insurance Supervisors)

Prime Minister Edi Rama is participating in the Annual Conference of the IAIS (International Organization of Insurance Supervisors). This is the largest gathering of insurance supervisors, taking place for the first time in the Balkan region.
In his speech, Prime Minister Rama said: “Climate change, cyber threats, global changes are challenges that affect us all. The consequences of inaction are affecting our economies. The insurance industry is facing an extraordinary challenge. Today's risks are fundamentally interconnected. Those interconnections that drive growth can also increase our vulnerabilities. For small economies, the risks are amplified. We lack the financial strength and insurance power to face them. Despite efforts for good insurance coverage, many families and small businesses remain uninsured. The way forward is clear: we need to include more in insurance every category. When done successfully, comprehensive insurance goes proactively. By pooling resources, we build a stronger response to the challenges. EU legislation on financial services has fully functioned. Progress is visible, as highlighted in the latest report of the European Commission”.
