"Proud of Albania", President Trump invites Rama to the Peace Board

Prime Minister Edi Rama has written on his social media that he has been invited by US President Donald Trump to join the Peace Board, a structure that will govern the Gaza Strip after the end of the war. Rama says that Albania will have the status of a founding member of this organization.

In his post, Rama writes:

"Very honored by President Trump's personal invitation to represent Albania on the Peace Board, a new international organization conceived by him, where Albania is invited as a founding member, thus reaching another international peak completely unimaginable just a few years ago."

"I could not be more proud of Albania, for everything we have done in these years, turning it into a different Albania, dignified and respected worldwide as never before, and undoubtedly for the level to which we have raised our strategic partnership relationship with the United States of America, being invited with special respect and appreciation by President Donald J. Trump, to become part of an international board created and chaired by him himself and to work together with him."

The founding Executive Board, chaired by Trump, will oversee the interim governance of Gaza and its reconstruction. The board, according to announcements so far, includes:

Former British Prime Minister Tony Blair

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio

US Special Envoy for the Middle East, Steve Witkoff

Jared Kushner, son-in-law of the US president

Billionaire Marc Rowan

World Bank President Ajay Banga

Robert Gabriel, US national security adviser

The White House statement also said that Nickolay Mladenov, a Bulgarian politician and former UN envoy to the Middle East, will be the board’s representative on the ground in Gaza. He will oversee a separate 15-member committee of Palestinian technocrats, the National Committee for the Administration of Gaza (NCAG), tasked with managing the day-to-day governance of Gaza after the war. The NCAG will be headed by Ali Shaath, a former deputy minister in the Palestinian Authority, which governs parts of the occupied West Bank not under Israeli control.
