7.1 million euros from energy sales/ Rainfall increases production, KESH

As flows in the Drini Cascade reached high levels as a result of recent weeks' rainfall, the Albanian Power Corporation has developed several sales procedures, generating revenue for the company.

According to data published by KESH, a total of 3 procedures were conducted, through which about 101 thousand MWh of energy were sold, with prices ranging from 34.64 euros/mWh, which is the lowest, to 109.75 euros/mWh, which is the highest price. The average price results in 66.7 euros/mWh, while in total about 7.1 million euros were secured.

Meanwhile, updated data indicate a stabilized situation at the Drini Cascade hydropower plants, as discharges have been suspended for several days.

The procedures carried out until mid-January present a stark contrast to the previous year, which was not good from the point of view of electricity. This is due to the lack of rainfall, which would have enabled production in the hydropower plants of Fierza, Koman and Vau i Dejës, forcing the Corporation to carry out dozens of energy purchase procedures, in order to meet consumer needs. This caused the total bill for energy imports to reach over 160 million euros.
