KESH imported energy throughout 2025 - The purchase invoice reached 272.2 million euros. 6.7 million euros were generated from the sale

The total bill for energy purchases reached 272.2 million euros including VAT, in 2025, according to data from the Energy Regulatory Authority. In total, throughout the year, the Albanian Power Corporation purchased 1,813,145 mWh of energy, at an average price of 127.55 euros/mWh.
Purchases were distributed throughout the year, but with a higher intensity in the summer months. Specifically, the largest volumes were recorded in July and August, over 346 thousand mWh and 363 thousand mWh, respectively.
At the beginning of the year, prices were relatively higher, reaching up to 157.7 euros/mWh in February, while they then underwent a gradual decline, dropping to around 110–125 euros/mWh during the summer and autumn months.
On the other hand, data on energy sales by KESH show a more limited activity. For the whole year, only 56,699 mWh were sold, at an average price of 98.3 euros/mWh, generating total revenues of around 6.7 million euros including VAT. Sales were made only in the months of October and November.
This situation is directly related to the country's high dependence on hydropower production, which is affected by water conditions and rainfall. In periods of drought or low flow levels in the Drini cascade, the country is forced to increase imports to guarantee supply, while sales opportunities remain limited and dependent on temporary production surpluses.
